At Instruments of Joy we firmly believe in the ability of artistry to fight poverty, loss, fear, and oppression. Some people fight battles with guns and tanks, but we prefer to fight with artistry through the hope of the gospel.
Last July, two Instruments of Joy guitars were delivered to the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary in Kyiv, Ukraine. These guitars are now being used to share the beauty and light of the gospel through music.
Throughout history, beauty and artistry have been able to bring hope to desolate situations like nothing else. During the Bosnian war, a lone cellist, Vedran Smallovic, played beautiful music in a bomb crater to mourn the dead and encourage the living.
Today, Amelia Anisovych, a seven year old Ukrainian girl, is sharing that same hope with her country right now. Despite the current violence and destruction ravaging her home, she is using her beautiful voice to bring joy and comfort to others.
Artists like Amelia, Vedran Smallovic, and students at the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary, continue to be an amazing source of encouragement in hard times. Their gifts of beauty inspire and encourage everyone around them.
Please help us continue to build up musicians and communities around the world with the transforming power of instruments given in Jesus’s name.
