SAINT-CLAIR: Haiti

This is Saint-Clair Sanon in Haiti. He was so excited to receive this guitar that he walked over a mile in the pouring rain and mud to pick it up. A carpenter by trade, Saint-Clair is from the village of Guibert—a remote farming community. The struggle for consistent clean water and mountainous terrain continue to make life difficult, but years of Haiti relief efforts have primarily made his village a success story. Saint-Clair is a recognized musician in his community who had been using an old acoustic guitar to lead in in playing and singing. With his new instrument, he is looking forward to improving his skills and his sound as well as using it to benefit his community for years to come.
