IOJ Story of Blessing
As much of the world is slowly coming out of the fog of COVID-19, Instruments of Joy is anxiously awaiting the day that we can send donations internationally again! In the meantime, we are spreading our message of joy locally. We recently partnered with Rescue1 Global. Their organization is on a mission to end human trafficking and help women survivors heal.
Instruments of Joy recently provided three guitars to the girls living in the Rescue1 Global safe houses. Our on-staff contact, Angie, picked up the guitars and brought them to the amazing survivors who were thrilled to receive them! One of the girls in particular has a passion for music, and she has been playing and writing music ever since she received a guitar. We hope to be able to continue to partner with Rescue1 Global in the future—hopefully in an international capacity!
Artistry Fighting Poverty
As schools closed their doors to slow the spread of COVID-19, musicians around the world quickly uploaded material to inspire or educate their followers. The music industry also jumped in to help fill the temporary gap in music education. Individual artists and large companies have provided online concerts, webinars, and live Q&A sessions via social media.
The House of Blues Music Forward Foundation even adapted their in-school programs to cater to the stay-at-home season. Their goal is to “change the world for the better,” and they are doing so through weekly online programs. Students can take this opportunity to grow in music education and take steps toward their musical dreams.
